This thing is a great deal. It might be a clone but a really good one. Reviews on HK are great and I bought 2 of these. I've been using one for couple of months now and it heats up in less than 20 seconds and has no flaws that I can tell of.

You NEED to get at least 1 extra tip since the stock one is pretty small and not good for soldering bigger stuff. These usually go out of stock pretty fast. I have been soldering for 50+ years professionally, and have just purchased the Yihua 936 soldering station from HK. The Yihua 936 is a good Hakko 936 copy/clone (the Hakko 936 has been a great soldering station that has been in commercial service for over 15 years). I have both the Hakko 936 and the Yihua 936, they are almost identical physically, however there are some differences, different color, the connectors for the soldering iron to the control station are opposite in gender, and are not interchangeable. The soldering iron holder w/sponge for the Hakko is made of metal; the Yihua appears to be a high temperature plastic. For either the Hakko or the Yihua 936, soldering iron assembly’s and tips are very low cost and available on e-bay. Sony Hdd Protection Driver Windows 7. You can buy an iron assy.

For under $6.00 and tips for $1.00 ea. When purchasing an Iron assy on e-baY, contact the seller prior to purchase and ask if the for sale iron is compatible with your Yihua 936 station, and that it is 50 watt, as there are several variations of the 936 iron, when searching for the replacement, search for '936 handle'. I have tested the Yihua 936 station for temperature accuracy and stability, it under idling conditions holds +/- 10DegC of set point, which is good for this type of station. The Yihua 936 appears to be a good solid soldering station and a real bargain.

Update - - I have just received a replacement (spare) soldering Iron assembly, complete w/tip from 'eherebuy' a e-baY vendor, for $5.35USD DELIVERED to California. The e-baY description to search for is ' Handle Soldering Tool Iron For 936 Station internal, (the 'internal' describes the irons connector gender). The Soldering Iron is a exact plugin replacement. Yep - With this baby on the way I went to Ebay and picked up four different size tips for $1.80 each with free shipping. While I was at it I picked up 10 grams of Flux paste that will help flow the solder of these heavy multi-strans wires for battery connections. ($1.49 with free shipping.) Now with my $26 dollar multi temp iron and all the extras I have still only spent 35 bucks.

BY GRANTHARS HAMMER - WHAT A SAVINGS. Mind posting the link to those? I can't find the ones with free shipping EDIT: I found them I spent probably around 5-10 hours during the summer soldering my FPV stuff so now its gonna be super fast. Mind posting the link to those? I can't find the ones with free shipping EDIT: I found them I spent probably around 5-10 hours during the summer soldering my FPV stuff so now its gonna be super fast All I did was do a search for ' hakko 936 ' like our friend told us to do and I found lots of tips but one guy had many sizes all with free shipping.

I do not know how this seller does shipping but one hour after I ordered the tips I got a notice on my phone that all four tips have shipped already. I can smell that solder smoldering already. Bring on them connectors. A good soldering iron or station has the the power (wattage) to be able to heat up the surfaces that are being soldered in a short time which prevents the components or materials adjacent to the solder joint from heating up and either being damaged or destroyed.

You only want to get the heat into the area that is being soldered; not the entire area around the joint! Believe me, when your iron doesn't have enough oompf behind it you end up melting things like the plastic housing of Deans type connectors, the insulation near the solder joint, etc because the iron can not generate the heat faster than the surrounding components absorb it. Also being able to control and maintain the temperature is very important which is closely linked with being able to supply and maintain the wattage necessary. Another thing to mention that is just as important is using the right tips and that the tips make a good thermal (transfer) contact with the iron base or heating element.
