LINKS: Foot Pedal: Workstation: CLOSED CAPTION Transcription provided by: Pham Transcription Services - Tina www.facebook.com/PhamTranscriptionServices @PhamTranscript FULL TRANSCRIPT: Hi there. This is just a quick video to discuss a piece of equipment that many transcribers use, and we call it a foot pedal. We use the foot pedal in order to control the audio playing on our computer.
Now, some transcribers actually use hotkeys to do that. However, I prefer using a food pedal so that my hands are free to just do the actual transcription. The foot pedal I use is from Infinity.
The model is IN-USB-1. It weighs about 2 pounds. It's about 7.5 inches by about 5.5 inches.
It comes with a pretty long cord. It's about 7 feet, maybe a little longer than 7 feet.
One thing I would definitely point out is this one is a USB connection. And especially if you're buying one used, pay attention to the connection. You want to make sure that it's USB or some type of connection that will fit into your computer. If it's an older connection type, you might have to actually go ahead and then purchase an adapter as well.
So that is one thing that I would definitely point out to look for when purchasing the foot pedal. It's a plug-and-play, which means it didn't come with any software. I just plugged it in and then set up my players to work with it. In another video, I can show you how to set the foot pedal up to work in a couple of different players. I already have shown how to use a foot petal, set it up, in what's called Pedable. So you can look for that video on my channel. To use the foot pedal, the center is play.

You can set up the left button to be rewind or fast-forward - your choice. And the right button, again, would be fast forward or rewind, whichever is your choice. Now this [click sounds] does maybe sound a little loud to you, but as it's sitting underneath my desk and I'm typing, it does not bother me at all.
I find it rather quiet. I would say that it's not really annoyingly loud once it's sitting under your desk and you're typing, have your earphones on, et cetera. When it comes to the ergonomics of using a foot pedal, you want to make sure that you have your workstation set up properly. This website is for the Occupational, Safety, and Health Administration, otherwise known as OSHA. I can share these links, and this one talks about your computer workstations. But as you can see here, it doesn't discuss a foot pedal for sitting at your desk, but it does discuss how you want to set up everything else. So on this website under Sewing and Related Procedures, it does go over what would be a foot pedal.
And I realize this is sewing, but you can relate it to the fact that she's sitting here with a pedal, and how you would want to sit a specific way that is ergonomic. I'm going to share these links with you, and you can go over the site yourself. And this will explain a little bit more of how you would want your workstation set up. So I hope you find this information useful. If you have any further questions or suggestions, go ahead and put them in the comment section below.
