Installing A Subwoofer In A Ve Commodore
Hey Guys, I recently bought a Kicker 12' Sub ported Box, Kicker amp and the wiring kit. I am new to all this wiring subs, amps and all that. And I am unsure how this works. I have looked onto youtube at various videos and they seem to give me an rough idea how it all works. But with the kicker wiring kit I purchased, it seems like I have to cut afew wires and do abit of figuring out by myself.
Is there any diagrams or instructions I could follow that go into more detail and are still easy to understand? I am placing this all into my 98' EL Falcon. That should show you pretty much everything. Red wire/ long wire from boot to engine bay battery (unless battery is in your boot) put fuse holder on the wire, attach a length (if there is one, otherwise cut the cable a bit to allow for the fuse) DO NOT ATTACH POWER WIRE TO BATTERY YET (just to be safe). Run it down under the carpet or trim panels.
Run rca's and trigger wire (should be the thin blue wire that is really long. Rca's will be the plugs) down the opposite side to headunit. Attach trigger wire to your remote bit on your headunit (should either say, or be blue. Consult your headunit manual if in doubt) plug rcas into sub out plug holes. Run to the boot with maximum speed.

Put sub box and amp in, plug speakers wires into the amp and the sub. Put power wire in the + port. Put rca's in the input holes, put trigger wire in the trigger/ remote port. Then there should be another shorter wire the same thickness as your power wire, but another colour, chuck that in the - port, and attach it to a bolt in your boot that is bolted to a metal part of the body/ chassis. Make sure it's a strongish bolt. Grind off any paint beneath the bolt, and chuck the cable on there (it should have an O terminal crimped onto it, put that on before the bolt) tighten it up.
